No-Bake Oatmeal Raisin Energy Bites

I love how many energy food recipes there are out there these days. A few years ago, these types of posts were nonexistent and I had to stumble my way through trial and error to come up with something. Most times, I admit, I went to the store and bought a bunch of PowerBars (which, at the time, didn’t taste all that great either). These days, finding a recipe for no-bake oatmeal raisin energy bites is as easy as a quick search-engine query. How great is that!

Here at SkinnyMs, we have tons of recipes for foods that give you energy bursts. Some of those recipes are heart-healthy meals while others are quick snacks for on-the-go energy. Today, we introduce another great recipe for the latter – these no-bake oatmeal raisin energy bites are perfect for a midday snack or a quick boost of energy before hitting the gym.

If you’re wondering why you should choose this recipe when there are so many, I have to warn you – we have a secret ingredient in our corner! Before we reveal it, let’s take a look at why we love energy bites.

No-Bake Energy Bites

First of all, who doesn’t love a recipe that’s doesn’t involve turning on the stove? I especially appreciate this in the summertime when every recipe has the potential to raise my inside temperature by ten degrees. Those are definitely the days that I wish I had air conditioning!

But, it’s not all about keeping the house cool. Sometimes it’s about saving time and effort. With this recipe, I don’t have to hang out in the kitchen while my snack bakes. It only needs 30 minutes in the fridge to firm up and it’s done. That’s it! Quick, easy, and with a minimal number of dishes.

The other thing about these no-bake oatmeal raisin energy bites is their portability. They’re small and they travel well, so all I need to do is pop a few out of the fridge and into a Ziploc bag. They’ll be there in my purse or gym bag, waiting for me when I’m ready.

Finally, they taste delicious! They taste a little bit like cookie dough (which the kids love, and I’m not going to ruin it by telling them it’s healthy too). When those oats combine with sweet chocolate chips, chewy raisins, and savory peanut butter, they really make something quite magical. I would eat more than one, but one is enough. They’re so filling that I wouldn’t want to ruin it by stuffing myself.

Okay already, I’ve made you wait long enough. It’s time to take a peek at the secret ingredient that gives these energy bites their extra bit of boost.

Burt’s Bees Plant-Based Protein Powder

It’s protein powder. Before you start wondering if natural protein is better than protein powder, this recipe has them both. You’ll get natural kind from the peanuts and the extra boost from the powder. You can use another brand, but we love Burt’s Bees plant-based protein powder. It’s a mix of plant-based protein and essential vitamins made by combining peas, flaxseed, sunflower seeds, rice, and oats.

There are many different types of protein powder on the market, we choose Burt’s Bees every time. Their company only uses all organic ingredients in their products, and this powder doesn’t have any added gluten, dairy, or soy. That makes it taste super clean and as a bonus, it has a great flavor, too.  So, what’s not to love?

Between the delicious flavor of oats, chocolate chips, and raisins and with the protein power of combining peanuts and peanut butter with the powder, we’ve created the perfect energy bite recipe. It’s like a concentrated energy bomb in every bite!

The only thing left we have to ask is – what are you waiting for? Whip up a batch of these no-bake energy bites and let us know what you think. If you have any nut allergies, let us know in the comments and we’ll help you come up with some great substitutes.
