Homemade Avocado and Onion Chip Dip

If you’re following a diet or healthy eating plan, there’s a good chance you’ve come to think of snacking as inherently bad. Generally, we’re told that snacking is a bad habit and a waste of calories that will only make it  harder to reach our health and fitness goals. Frankly, I take issue with this rhetoric, and this homemade avocado and onion chip dip and I are here to challenge that mentality.

Snacks as Meals: A Life Hack

I’m a big fan of what I like to call snacks for meals. Honestly, snacking has always been one of my favorite pastimes. Unfortunately, it can be hard to fit snacking into most healthy eating plans. And even when you can fit them in, snacks often have to be so small and unsatisfying that they’re hardly even worth it.

To get around this little dilemma, I came up with a surprisingly simple solution: snacks as meals. This way, I can enjoy more of the snacky foods I love without falling into the dangerous habit of “eating between meals.” Moreover, by making a snack the main course, I get to enjoy my favorite “meal” in reasonable portions, instead of trying desperately to sneak in a minuscule snack that won’t break my calorie budget for the day.

For snackers, enjoying snacks in place of meals is basically a healthy living life-hack. One of my favorite snacks of all time involves literally any kind of dip and anything I can dip into it. This includes anything and everything from sweet and fluffy fruit dip to warm and cheesy spinach and artichoke dip. Another favorite? Classic sour cream and onion dip, which was a main source of inspiration for this homemade avocado and onion chip dip.

Snacking Made Healthy

Of course, even when you’re subbing in snacks in place of meals, it’s still best to keep your snacking choices on the healthier side. That’s why I came up with this healthy and tasty avocado onion dip to satisfy my snacking needs.

This super easy and clean dish uses just a few simple, healthy ingredients. This dip gets its creamy texture from Greek yogurt, a clean and healthy substitute for sour cream that will leave you feeling much lighter.

Light and fresh Greek yogurt also pairs well with creamy, healthy avocado in this dip. Onion and garlic add some extra flavor that makes this dish everything you love about onion dip with a tasty avocado bonus.

With its cool, creamy texture and flavor, this easy homemade avocado and onion chip dip combines the best of guacamole and your favorite onion dip. Enjoy it with tortilla chips, pita, or fresh veggies for an extra healthy snack.

End the war on snacking with this healthy avocado dip. Whether you’re preparing this dip as an app for guests, making yourself a little snack, or swapping it in for dinner, this avocado dip is an easy and guilt-free recipe everyone will love.
