Healthy fries? You bet! This recipe uses sweet potatoes instead of traditional white potatoes. It creates a crispy, tasty fried potato that’s much healthier than the traditional version. These delicious Oven Sweet Potato Fries are a great option if you’re trying to eat healthier and want to get your kids on board, too. They offer all the usual taste and texture of regular potato fries. But, since they’re made with sweet potatoes, they are packed with vitamins and minerals!
Many people call sweet potatoes a superfood, and the name is well-earned. Sweet potatoes are loaded with beta carotene, which is what gives them their bright orange color. They’re also packed full of vitamins and minerals. There are a ton of reasons why you should be eating more sweet potatoes, including helping build immunity and containing stress-fighting properties. But, most of all, these Oven Sweet Potato Fries taste great, which is why your family will happily gobble them up with you.
Healthy (and Delicious) Oven Sweet Potato Fries
When you’re doing your best to eat healthy, it can be tough to give up your favorite unhealthy treats. For me, the hardest things to give up are crunchy snack foods, like deliciously salty french fries. Now, you don’t have to! SkinnyMs. has come up with a mouth-wateringly tasty version that is made with 100% clean, whole-food ingredients.
Sweet potato fries are an excellent way to sneak healthy ingredients into someone’s meal without them even realizing they’re giving up a traditional indulgence. We bake up our Oven Sweet Potato Fries with flavorful chili powder, smoky cumin, and spicy cayenne pepper. But, the best part about this recipe is how easy it is to customize.
You can swap in your favorite spices or seasoning blends, or you can up the nutrition quotient a bit more by using healthy spices on your fries, such as cinnamon or turmeric. We also like Cajun seasoning, lemon-garlic salt, or even an Indian-inspired za’atar spice. It’ll taste great no matter what you do, so feel free to have some fun with it.
Serve ‘Em Up
These healthy Oven Sweet Potato Fries make a perfect after school snack. You can serve them plain with a side of ketchup, or dip them into some of our favorite appetizer sauces, like: Homemade Avocado and Onion Chip Dip, Cheesy Chicken Chili Dip, or 2-Ingredient Sour Cream Dip.
Or, serve them alongside your favorite sandwich. They’re particularly good served with one of our skinny burgers, like: Spicy Black Bean and Sweet Potato Burger with Avocado Sauce, Skinny Cheeseburger Boats, Mediterranean Grilled Eggplant Burgers With Cheese, Spinach and Feta Turkey Burger with Tzatziki Sauce, or Buffalo Ranch Chickpea Burger.
